Welcome to Sophiasburgh Central School
Sophiasburgh Central School, located south-east of Belleville in scenic Prince Edward County, serves approximately 200 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. It is situated in a spacious country setting where students participate in nature studies and athletic activities.
Sophiasburgh Central School’s facilities include a computer lab, a well-stocked library with its own cozy primary reading room, a small drama room, and a full sized gymnasium. At recess, the students have access to an enclosed tennis court area for playing basketball and other sports, two baseball diamonds, a soccer pitch with regulation soccer nets, and a running track which encircles the sporting grounds.
Sophiasburgh Central School, in conjunction with the Picton Kiwanis, offers the Terrific Kids award program which supports character development. Monthly celebration assemblies include recognition of reading goals, classroom and hallway tidiness and environmental participation. Students are also recognized for athletics and other achievements throughout the year. Sophiasburgh Central School is also a Healthy Active School Community. We participate in a school-wide fun, physical activity once a month.
At Sophiasburgh Central School, students receive quality education with an emphasis on literacy, numeracy, and the development of caring and responsible students. There is energy and enthusiasm for learning that flows through the school.
Students proceed to Prince Edward Collegiate in Picton for Grades 9 to 12.
