Students at Q.E.P participated in pink shirt day to stand up against hate which includes bullying and racism. Hundreds of students in the school wore pink t-shirts to show their support and let people know that we as a school are against it.
As a special activity students at Q.E.P wrote messages against bullying and to support the fact that we want our school to be caring and peaceful. Students then attached their heartfelt messages to helium balloons in an effort to spread their message of LOVE! Students then met on the school lawn and released the balloons into the air while chanting "LEAD WITH LOVE".The chanting and cheering continued as the balloons made their way into the air and off into the distance. The students were excited that their message will be spread as far as the wind may take those balloons.

Queen Elizabeth Tiger's Celebrating Caring |
|
Tiger Tale:
Hi my name is Anna. I am nine years old and I am in Gr. 3 at Queen Elizabeth in Picton. A year and a half ago my 4 year old cousin Connor
died from cancer. The type of cancer he was diagnosed with was called
neuroblastoma. I felt so bad for people that get diagnosed with cancer that
I grew my hair long enough to get eleven inches cut off.
My mommy mailed myhair off to Locks of Love so that people who live with cancer can still have
a headful of hair.
Just one more way that the students of Queen Elizabeth School are making a difference. |

Tiger Pride at Q.E.P. In Support of International Pink Shirt Day April 11, 2012!
International Pink Shirt Day started in Nova Scotia as a way for students to stand up for acceptance in our schools. Now it has spread throughout North America as a way to visibly send a message that bullying, racism, homophobia, hate and discrimination will not be tolerated within our communities.
This year will be the 4th annual International Pink Shirt Day here in the Quinte region. At Queen Elizabeth we continue to work with our students to educate and support our students to stand-up for their individuality and to be proud of their differences.
We have ordered a limited number of Pink T-Shirts for our students to be able to show their commitment to stand up for acceptance within our school community. T-Shirt orders will be filled on a first come first serve basis and will be available for delivery in early April in preparation for the April 11th Pink T-Shirt Day.
Cost of t-shirts are $7.00-money and forms should be returned to the office.

Queen Elizabeth Receives Metro Green Apple Grant |
|
Queen Elizabeth Public School in partnership with the School Council Outdoor Learning Space Committee has been awarded $1000.00 to be used towards creating an outdoor learning space. At Queen Elizabeth the School Community is working to create outdoor learning spaces that will support curriculum, environmental stewardship, and beautification of the school grounds. As a first phase, this money will help to build and install bird houses and feeders and develop native plantings in strategic locations around the school. This is a great opportunity for our students and we are thankful to the committee, as well as Metro for their support. |

The challenge going out to students for December 13th to December 20th is to bring canned goods, or non-perishable food items into the school. The food items will be made into a food castle, which Mr. Launderville will work in for the day on December 21st, 2011. All food bank donations will then be picked-up on December 22nd. Another great opportunity to show your Tiger Pride! |
