Well, so much for winter, sitting in front of the roaring fire to keep warm, while everyone reads a fantastic book. Winter or no winter, we can still “read up a storm”. Pinecrest Library is getting new books weekly. There are so many great books for the students to read.
Book Club Update!
Red Maple Book Club - Grades 7 & 8 students are doing great with their selection of 10 books. The 13 students participating have read 44 % of the books. That is great since we just started in early November. The top titles are: Dear George Clooney, Half Brother,
Fly Boy, and Dust City. Ask your student which one they enjoyed the most so far.
Silver Birch Book Club - Grades 5 & 6 students - The 10 students have read about 47% of the selections and their favourites are: Better Than Weird, Ghost Messages, Ghosts of the Titanic, McGillicuddy’s book of Personal Records, and The Undergrounders. Ask what your student thinks about these books.
Grade 3 Reading Circle has begun again with a new group of readers from Ms. Howes’ and Ms. Kelly’s classes. Our current book is: “ Liar, Liar Pants on Fire” by Gordon Korman.
Our BIG NEWS for February is that the Scholastic Book Fair is returning to Pinecrest School Library for a week, starting Tues. Feb. 21 - Fri Feb. 24th. So mark your calendars. I would like to thank the great ladies of the Library who will be helping out again, Valery
