Make Poverty History was started in 2005/2006 by a group of students in the world issues geography class. Every year the student commitee chooses 1 or more projects to support such as, funding for an elementary school library in an underdeveloped country, or funding for reading materials for Native Canadians. Their first step is to set a financial goal for the project they have chosen. To do this they arrange a wide variety of activities for our classes to participate in, as a way to raise money for their project.
Some of these activities include, Home Room Challenges, Concerts at the school, and Special Dinners that students and their parents can attend. You can also purchase the Wrist Band from PECI or any other place that supports Make Poverty History.
