Venture Program

For many years Prince Edward Collegiate Institute students have benefitted from informal enrichment opportunities in their regular classes and through extra-curricular activities. As a comprehensive community school, we endeavour to offer programs to meet the emerging needs and local demands of our community. As a result, PECI began offering an enrichment program beginning with grade 9 students in September of 2004. We have maintained full Venture classes in the subsequent years.

The Venture Program is based on the Ontario Curriculum for Academic Courses with greater emphasis on student-directed inquiry. Students will be evaluated based on the Academic Course Expectations and will be challenged to study these subjects in greater depth; they will further develop learning skills and higher order thinking skills necessary for academic excellence.

Students in the program will be encouraged to aim high academically and to be more involved in the local and broader community around them.
