Come join us on Wed., March 6, at 6:30 p.m., in the school's library, for this important workshop.
On behalf of our School Council, we would like to acknowledge the backing of the Ministry of Education for awarding our school with a 'Parents Reaching Out' grant in support of this initative.
Our students are internet-savvy, more so than ever before. Chris Vollum will address the pertinent issues which affect students worldwide. Don't miss this exciting and necessary presentation! |

The following excerpt from our school board's Communications Officer, Kerry Donnell:
About $2.8 million is being provided to create a six-classroom addition at Harry J. Clarke Public School. Currently, Kindergarten and Grade 1 students are located at the nearby Sir Winston Churchill facility. HJC students are located at three different locations: Sir Winston, Harry J. Clarke, and the Grade 7/8 Destinations Programme students at Moira Secondary. The addition will allow the students at Sir Winston Churchill to return to HJC. It will also provide new, modern Full-day Kindergarten spaces for the introduction of that program in September 2014. Design planning will begin soon on the design, with the first step being to select an architectural firm. The renovation is scheduled to be ready for September 2014 and will add approximately 150 students to the current population of roughly 590 students.
“This investment in our Board is welcome news. It supports our multi-year plan to consolidate and renew our schools to ensure our students have modern, safe learning environments,” said Dwayne Inch, Chair of the Board.
We're very excited to hear the news! |

CRITICAL THINKING
Students are asked, on a daily basis, to think critically about the world around them. A critical mind should be trained to analyze and question everything that is read, seen, listened to, etc... Many parents are questioning, "What is critical thinking?" "How can I help my child to think critically?" If you are one of these parents, please take a look at these two articles - designed to help parents encourage critical thinking in their children.

As part of Harry J. Clarke's ongoing commitment to deliver 21st century education tools for our students, we are proud to announce that our school has gone wireless. Under their teacher's direction, students are now permitted to use wireless devices in the classroom to support and enhance their learning. On your child's wireless device, teach them how to search for the network "HJC PUBLIC". They will then be required to enter their username and password (same as logging into a school computer). |
