Although we had to cancel due to rain Thursday, the weather held out on Friday for our Hermon Soccer tournament. The event was a great success with 9 mixed teams from local schools playing. Our congratulations go to OLM and Bird’s Creek PS who tied for first place. Congratulations also to all who participated for showing remarkable sportspersonship. Our Hermon Hornets did us proud by demonstrating sportspersonship and respect throughout the tournament. Thank you to Mrs. Wagenmakers for all the time spent coaching our young athletes. We would like to thank all our parents, Jennifer Woodcox, Donna and Wayne Parkhurst, Arline Peacock, Roxane Rudolph, Tracy Keller, Jennifer White-Fransky and Donna Small, as well as our high school refs, Andrew, Brad, Brandin, Jamie, Taylor, Paige, Brooke, Connor and Travis. A special thanks to Mrs. Barkley and Mr. Grant who went above and beyond to make the day run smoothly. Without such teamwork, we would not have had such a successful day.

The Election— Breanna (Gr. 6)
The grade 5.6 class had an election based on the real election. During this period of time they went through a procedure of picking their groups, reading their mascots speech and adding some of their own ideas. They shared their speeches to the class and challenged one of the other parties (groups) in a debate. Finally, they set up for the election. David, Cody and Breanna were in charge of the election, Breanna was the chief electoral officer, Cody and David were poll clerks. After everyone voted, Cody, David and Breanna counted and marked down the votes. Todd Smith won the election but in our class, the PC party won.
Agribition— Emily (Gr. 4)
When we went to Stirling Fairgrounds the most fun thing was milking a fake cow named Buttercup. We learned that there is 1 queen bee and girl bees are called working bees and there are 60 00 of them and boy bees are called drones. There are about 20 000 of the boy bees and we also learned the boy sheep are called rams and girl sheep are called ewes. And that’s what we learned at Stirling Fairgrounds. |
