Welcome to Bird's Creek Public School

Located in the hamlet of Bird’s Creek, 5 kilometres north of the town of Bancroft, Bird’s Creek Public School serves 160 Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 students.

Students have access to a spacious library, full-size gymnasium, well-equipped playground and an after school program. The school provides a safe and healthy learning environment based on mutual respect and inclusionary practices. Staff, parents, students, school council and volunteers share the responsibilities for student achievement. Students participate in the Silver Birch and Blue Spruce Library Programs. Bird’s Creek PS is a Healthy Active School Community.

Bird’s Creek PS students proceed to York River Public School in Bancroft for Grades 7 and 8.

Annual Fun Fair -Another Success!!

altThanks to everyone who came (out in the rain!) to support our school at the Annual Bird's Creek Fun Fair. Fun times were had by all from the BBQ, to the cotton candy to the silent auction. Excitement mounted as the raffle winners were announced. Special thanks to the Fun Fair organizing committee as well as the many local businesses who once again donated items and services.alt

 
Jump Rope for Heart

altStudents will participate in the annual Jump Rope for Heart in the afternoon of May 18. We are raising money for the  Heart and Stroke Foundation.                   Be a "Heart Hero"

 
Relay results

Congratulations to the BCPS relay teams who travelled to Belleville recently. It was a cold and windy day for running, but the rain held off and our students perservered.

Four of six teams made it on to the semi-finals! Our Atom A boys team consisting of Carter, Brodie, Riley and Jamie made it through to the finals where they placed 6th in the whole county!

Congratulations to all runners for their efforts and good behaviour.

Special thanks to Mrs. Dickey and Mr. Metzger who volunteered many recesses to help coach the relay teams.

 

 
National Denim Day

On Tuesday, May 15, Bird's Creek staff will participate in National Demin Day to help raise funds for Breast Cancer research. Choose to wear denim on May 15!

 
NI Day

 May 25th is an NI Day. Students do not attend.

 
EarthCare 2012

 Bird's Creek Public School is working to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Here are some ways to REDUCE:

 

 

Reduce alt

  • don't buy heavily packed goods
  • buy 'loose' food rather than pre-packaged
  • stop junk mail and faxes
  • cancel delivery of unwanted newspapers, donate old magazines to waiting rooms
  • use your own shopping bags when visiting the supermarket
  • grow your own vegetables. Many varieties can be grown in small gardens
  • take a packed lunch to work or school in a reusable plastic container
